Are you a compassionate educator who excels at creating a highly structured, nurturing, and joyful space where students with diverse needs can truly shine? At Scott M. Ellis Elementary, we believe that the earliest years of education set the stage for a lifetime of growth. We are looking for an extraordinary Special Education Teacher (1.0 FTE) to lead our Self-Contained 12:1:1 classroom, helping our youngest learners with Autism discover their strengths and achieve their milestones in a safe, supportive environment.
Why This Role is Unique: With a dedicated teaching assistant and a small, intimate class size, you will have the space and resources to fully individualize instruction. You will design creative, hands-on learning moments that align with our district goals of vertical learning, using therapeutic and multi-sensory approaches to foster independence and improve behaviors, communication, and confidence.
The Greenville Advantage: You aren’t teaching in isolation. Our elementary school boasts a collaborative team of speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and school psychologists who partner with you daily to ensure every child has a holistic support system.
Lead and organize a self-contained 12:1:1 classroom, prioritizing a welcoming, secure, and supportive physical and emotional space.
Design and implement individualized, standards-based instruction that targets academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and daily living skills.
Write, implement, and track progress on IEP goals, with professional and empathetic advocacy.
Assist with daily living skills such as feeding and toileting.
Collaborate closely with parent/caregiver partners and the PPS multidisciplinary team to write, implement, and monitor meaningful IEP goals.
Supervise and coordinate classroom paraprofessionals to foster a seamless, positive learning environment.
NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 1-6 or Birth-Grade 2).
Proven experience utilizing positive behavior interventions, sensory strategies, and modified curricula.
A warm, collaborative spirit aligned with Greenville's promise: "Where everyone learns, teaches, and belongs."
