Job Description

Where Everyone Learns, Teaches, and Belongs.

Are you an educator who believes that history is more than just memorizing dates? Do you see the social studies classroom as a laboratory for building empathy, critical thinking, and active citizenship?

Nestled between the historic Hudson River, the Catskill Mountains, and the Capital Region's growing tech corridor, Greenville Central School District is looking for an inspiring, student-centered Social Studies Teacher (7-12) to join our secondary team.

In Greenville, we know that social studies education is the ultimate vehicle for teaching students how to think, not what to think. We are seeking a dedicated educator who can bring historical events to life, encourage civil discourse, and guide students as they navigate the complex, interconnected world they will inherit.

Why This Position Stands Out:

In alignment with our core district pillars—Curriculum, Culture, and Community—you will have the support to truly innovate in the classroom:

  • Inquisitive, Creative Learning: We want you to challenge students with relevant and engaging learning experiences. Design lessons that foster critical inquiry and collaboration.

  • A Supportive "Whole-Child" Culture: You will work in a district that actively champions student wellness, a supportive Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and a warm, inclusive campus where every single student feels like they belong.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging 7-12 Instruction: Plan and deliver rigorous, state-aligned social studies lessons that build strong critical reading, writing, and analytical skills.

  • Foster Critical Inquiry: Create a safe, structured, and respectful environment where students can analyze primary sources, engage in civil dialogue, and evaluate multiple perspectives.

  • Collaborative Professionalism: Work collaboratively with cross-curricular teams to vertically align historical skills and literacy, participating actively in planning time and professional development.

  • Classroom Mentorship: Provide student support both during and after school, helping students find their voice, develop their strengths, and thrive academically.

Job Qualifications
  • New York State Certification in Social Studies (Grades 7-12) (required).

  • A genuine passion for working with middle and high school-aged learners, meeting them with empathy, high expectations, and unwavering support.

  • Strong communication skills to build lasting partnerships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Help our students make sense of the past so they can confidently shape the future. Apply today via RecruitFront to become a Spartan!
